Lowell “ George” Monroe Hallman,88, died Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro, SC.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 5-7pm at Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:00am in Port Royal Baptist Church with interment in Beaufort National Cemetery with full military honors and masonic rites.
Mr. Hallman was born on June 21, 1924 in Fort Valley, GA. He is the son of the late Thomas Jefferson Hallman and Cora Lee Young Hallman.
He was a member of the Port Royal Baptist Church. He served our country in the U S Marine Corps, retiring as a S/SGT after 23 years of service. Some of his many tours of duty were WWII, Korea, Iwo Jima and the Philippines.
George accomplished many things in his life, he was the Past Master of the Port Royal Masonic Lodge, where he was a 33 degree Mason, he was Past Potentate of Omar Shrine Temple in Charleston, SC. He was a member of the Scottish Rite.
He was very involved with the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Greenville, SC, where he would dress up like a clown to entertain the children.
Surviving are two daughters, Delores J. Dickerson Woods Fuseler of Hollywood, SC and Teresa Hallman of Port Royal, SC; one son, Thomas (Jeff) Erson Hallman of St. Helena Island, SC; one sister, Katherine Honeycutt of Fort Valley, GA; eight grandchildren and 25 plus great and great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that donations be made to the Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital.
